Last week The Gal’s gave you tips about sewing with knits in preparation for their upcycling challenge. This week they talk about their experience at the Goodwill Bins and give you tips for shopping in such a cutthroat environment. They set the rules for their upcycling challenge and talk about what they might do with some of the items they found. This is such a fun episode!

Katie and Loni are ecstatic to share what they have learned (through trial and error) about sewing with knits this week. This is the first in what will be a three parter about upcycling knit clothing. In this first installment hear about why The Gals love knits, why they are challenging to sew with, and how you can avoid the mistakes they made as beginners.

Listeners, we have an awesome “Doing Stuff” episode for you this week! The Gals have been obsessed over a video of a man creating a flower from cutting rolled paper they found and posted in the Two Artsy Gals Facebook group a couple weeks ago. Katie couldn’t let this magical process go and vowed to learn how to do it… so The Gals did just that! And even though they did figure out how Indian Paper Art is done, it is still blowing their minds!

Join us for a short but sweet episode on Fractal Images. What they hell are these beautiful mysteries of art wrapped in math? Where can we see them in nature? How can we make them digitally? How can we use them in our art? How are artist using them in their work? All answers will be revealed in this episode… and of course The Gals get a bit weird and possibly gross because that is what they do best.

Loni and Katie start of the show with a crazy, long, and completely unrelated conversation that probably should have happened before they started recording, but they do eventually get to Mother’s Day gift ideas. This was a last minute idea meant to be a chill, fun episode so your favorite artsy gals didn’t have to do much the week of Mother’s Day! Enjoy!

Yay! The Gals are back from their short, but unplanned break. Katie and Loni actually ran out of time talking about artistic collaborations during this one so we will be planning a part two so they can cover more project ideas and famous collaborations some time this summer. In this episode you will learn how to successfully collaborate and where to find other artists you can do this with.

Pay attention to the opening jibber jabber this week because The Gal’s are doing a give away and all details are in the first five to seven minutes of the show!

It is a Katie and Loni Doing Stuff episode, yay! It feels like it has been forever since we have done one so The Gals were excited to record. We have been wanting to do gelli plates for some time but because they are not what we would call inexpensive this has always been a subject be put off. That is until this week when Katie found a recipe to make your own gelli plates! Listen in as The Gals play around with this new-to-them medium and joke about all the stuff they normally joke about.

The Gals talk Steam Punk this week and because they are both huge fans of this genre of art, they were ecstatic to talk about it. After a brief history of Steam Punk Katie and Loni cover writing; fashion/costumes, jewelry and accessories, assemblage art, sculpture, painting and drawing, and then give us a rundown of way to incorporate Steam Punk into our mixed media art. There are plenty of silly sidebars and nonsensical rants today so get comfortable and enjoy this one.

The Gals are back this week with a fun, and possibly a little weird conversation about found objects. What are they? How do you best search for these artistic gems? How do you use them? This is an episode full of sidebars about childhood collections and seeing faces in all the things. We hope you enjoy it!

The Gals are a little less crazy this week during their nutty preamble and conversation about sculpture… but only a little. Once they manage to get on track and stay there, Katie and Loni discuss 3-D sculpture vs. relief sculpture and the difference between stone sculpture (or sculpture done by removing materials), and sculpting things with clay or other media (by adding materials to build up dimension). This is a fun talk with a little something for everyone.

Don’t forget the month of March is #trypod month! Spread the word about podcasts! Show your mom how to find and listen to podcast… explain them to your friend who has always been a little embarrassed to ask. Have conversations about how great this form of entertainment is.

Iphone_trans Listening to podcasts on your mobile devices is extremely convenient -- and it's what makes the podcasting medium so powerful.
